![]() Stanley is in a synagogue studying for his bar mitzvah. A little later, the hands were hidden and the screaming stopped, but suddenly the door swings open and Mike watches Pennywise murdering a sheep behind plastic curtains. The door opens a little and several burned hands start to come out alongside the cries for help from Mike's parents (who died in a fire when Mike was little). Mike, escaping from Henry Bowers's gang runs off into an alley and as he walks through a locked door, he hears screaming and pounding. It reveals Its true colors when Georgie was about to get back his boat, by ripping off his arm and dragging him into the sewer to finish him. It first appears to Georgie and talks friendly with him to gain his trust. It is presented as a ravenous cosmic entity with eldritch attributes instead of the enemy of Maturin, who is totally absent from this universe. Like the novel, It was part of the disasters that occurred every 27 years in the very town of Derry. An evil thing that feeds off the people of Derry. He said that all the bad things that happened in this town are because of one thing. My grandfather thinks this town is cursed. It could, however, just be a sarcastic way of insulting them, with It being angry to be defeated for good and seeing that the Losers are not afraid of It anymore. When It is about to be defeated by the Losers, It simply and mysteriously tells them that they had all grown up, instead of insulting or snarling them, like It was proud to find worthy opponents. All of this makes It an arrogant sadist who will do anything to kill or otherwise maim others. Furthermore, while It is still a coward, the remake ramps up Its more insidious side by portraying It as someone who cannot live without tormenting someone else. ![]() Instead of using Its Pennywise façade, It clearly prefers to corner and terrify Its victims before going straight for the kill. It is not only a sadistic monster, but It rarely bothers to fake being affable towards anyone, and even when It tries to appear friendly, Its underlying creepiness still oozes through and It clearly struggles very much to act like a normal human. It is even more depraved than its original incarnation. Due to being a shape-shifter, It's appearance varies as it takes on the form of other people's greatest fears in the films. They also are often looking in different directions. Most often, It's eyes are orange, but It can change them to appear more familiar. Its face has two red lines starting above the eyes streaming down the cheeks and ending at the corners of its mouth while the nose is not genuine, but painted red. As Pennywise, It instead has a silver suit similar to Italian opera clowns and orange hair. In contrast to its original novel counterpart, this version of It in the movie adaptation is significantly altered.
